Devour: The New Motorola Android Phone On Verizon
Posted by admin in Droid News on February 4, 2010
Introducing the Motorola Devour: the next Android phone to be released on the Verizon network.
With a slideout keyboard and a nearly identical design, the Devour is clearly based on the bestselling Motorola Droid.
The Devour is designed for those looking to stay connected to the most popular social networks at a reasonable price. The device will ship with Android 1.6 while running MOTOBLUR, Motorola’s service that synchronizes with Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter to push your friend’s messages and updates directly to the Devour’s active homescreen.
The Devour will feature a slightly smaller touchscreen (3.1-inches with resolution of 320×480) than the Droid. The Devour’s hardware will not be as cutting-edge as the Droid, resulting in a smaller phone in both price and size.
The Devour will feature Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, a 3-megapixel camera with geotagging, Bluetooth 2.0, will ship with an 8GB microSD card.
The Devour will be released on the Verizon Wireless network sometime in March, 2010.
At this time, the device’s exact retail price is unknown; it is apparent, however, that the Devour will retail for less than the Motorola Droid.

HTC Sense On Motorola Droid
Posted by admin in Droid Tips on January 11, 2010
For those of you looking to try out the latest Droid mod, why not try HTC’s Sense UI on your Droid?
You will need to root your Droid first, have Android 2.0 or 2.0.1, then follow the instructions here.
Be careful. There are multiple steps that you must follow accurately. Failure to do so may result in the bricking of your Droid.
NYTimes Best Tech Idea: Motorola Droid Dock
Posted by admin in Droid Accessories on January 1, 2010
David Pogue, technology guru for the New York Times, has listed his nine best technology ideas this year.
The Motorola Droid Dock and Car Mount were one of those ideas:
The Motorola Droid, of course, is an app phone (that is, an iPhone wannabe with a black rectangular touch screen, etc.). It’s generally a very good one, with slide-out keyboard, excellent speed and the Verizon network.
The winner here isn’t the phone, though — it’s the docks. One $30 plastic dock suctions to your windshield. When you slip the phone into it, hidden magnetic sensors automatically fill the Droid’s screen with Google’s new GPS navigation software, complete with turn-by-turn driving directions, spoken street names, color coding to indicate traffic, map icons (for parking and so on), satellite view and more.
Or buy the $30 home dock. When you insert the Droid, the screen becomes a handsome, horizontal-layout alarm-clock/weather display, complete with buttons that let you access your music or even dim the screen for sleepy time. You have to charge your phone overnight anyway, so why shouldn’t it be doing something useful in the meantime?

As someone who also appreciates efficiency in everything, I like Pogue’s comment about the Droid actually performing some function while it charges overnight.
Anyway, Amazon.com carries both the Droid Multimedia Docking Station and Motorola’s OEM Window Mount.
The Novatel MiFi was also included on David Pogue’s best of ‘09 list. Anyone looking for a wireless internet connection and WiFi router in one small box should check out BuyMiFi.com for more details and deals!
Motorola Droid Driving Downloads of Android Apps
Posted by admin in Droid News on December 30, 2009
The Motorola Droid was clearly the most successful Android phone this holiday season.
The company Flurry tracks mobile application analytics. Flurry has found that the Motorola Droid was responsible for nearly half of the Android applications bought and downloaded on Christmas Day.
The myTouch 3G, HTC Hero, and G1 almost evenly split the remaining 51% of Android applications downloaded Christmas Day.
Overall, the Android market grew by 20% between November and December, 2009.
